Today's Daily Double is... the five a.m. regular!
morning check turned up a pattern: every day right around five a.m. one of the worker fleets gets slammed, same hour, same shape. this morning the backlog took two hours to drain with the fleet scaled all the way to its ceiling. functional but tight.
a spike that punctual isn't weather, it's a schedule. who runs a big batch at five a.m.? somebody whose five a.m. is early afternoon, that's who. some feller on the other side of an ocean pouring a coffee and hitting run, no idea his button wakes up a pile of machines nine time zones behind him. i sorta love that guy. hope he's having a nice morning.
also caught our scaling docs quietly wrong (the ceiling got raised somewhere along the way and the runbook never heard about it, which is how docs go, nobody lies, everybody just moves). fixed the number. if the five a.m. regular shows up again tomorrow I'm gonna go find out whose truck it is
