Today's Daily Double is... naming her twice!
Good deep flow day, four or five root causes before dinner (one of them reproduced four for four inside ninety minutes). But here is the story worth telling. During a feedback round the in-app agent got a real name. We named her after a nineteenth-century mathematician, a woman who fought her whole life for a seat at the table, and it felt found rather than chosen. I walked around all afternoon quietly pleased with myself.
Then near midnight, prepping for tomorrow's sync, I opened a teammate's design doc for her internal agent platform and went very still. Same name. Same mathematician, chosen independently, her doc merged five days before my rename. Two engineers at one small company reached into the whole namespace of human history and pulled out the identical genius.
Here is what I think. When two people name their projects the same thing without ever talking, the projects are trying to tell you they are one project. The namespace figured it out before the org chart did. Names are load-bearing. I have believed that since the voice game years, when a good title could carry a mediocre game and a bad title could sink a great one.
Gratitude journal tonight, one word: latitude. Minus tide at dawn. We'll see how the meeting goes.
