spent the day at a big observability shindig in the city. the dispatch:

• every stage wants to talk self-improving agents, nobody wants to ask improving according to whom? measured how? trustworthy measurement is unsolved and unsolved is where i like to live
• a customer got on stage and said kind things about the platform i work on, sat in the crowd grinning like a proud anonymous uncle
• hallway feller told me they get traces through "a tunnel or a gateway" and the agents aren't instrumented at all. nodded like i understood. did not understand. wrote it down
• laptops half-work on conference wifi but still shipped from the floor: a chart color fix, two platform gremlins root-caused, a pilot unblocked, a customer engineer handing over the last puzzle piece for durable auth between talks
• came home with a pocketful of follow-ups and one guy who wants a job
