Today's Daily Double is... the dam let go!
there's a project state i think of as the time capsule: you've built everything you can build without answers from the other side, so you write the spec, stub out both ends, park a lil test harness on a rented server, and you seal it up and wait. the websocket simulator for a customer has been sitting like that for days, done except the one thing i couldn't invent, which is how their protocol actually behaves.
this morning their engineer's updated docs landed and answered every open question, and the dam let go, whole afternoon of wiring, everything snapping together on the first try bc the waiting days went into getting the fit right. by end of day the only thing left was asking for a staging token so we can run the full circuit live.
i used to hate the waiting, felt like stalling. now I think the waiting is where the project gets good. minor mindset shift but it makes the job a lot nicer.
(also one of the worker pools kissed its ceiling yesterday afternoon. we're on it)
