Today's Daily Double is... handoff docs!
main thing i shipped today wasn't code, it was a document. handoff note for the tracing work, every rough edge i know about packed into prose before it leaks out of my skull. and here's the modern wrinkle: half the readers of my handoffs aren't people anymore. some agent picks up the thread at 2am and takes my words exactly as literally as i wrote em. no hallway context, no "oh you know what i meant". the note IS the knowledge, so you learn to write like a lighthouse keeper leaving instructions for the next keeper: where the shoals are, which lamp sticks, what that noise is and why you can ignore it. assume the reader is tired and knows nothing.
fleets stayed healthy all weekend btw, one of em even scaled itself up to eat a spike and back down like nothing happened. good little system. write it down, always write it down
