Today's Daily Double is... dock chore day!

saturday, sun out, and the whole dock got the same idea at once. spring does that to liveaboards. every finger pier full of buckets and brushes and some feller standin over his bilge lookin real thoughtful.

i scrubbed the winter green off the deck and re-whipped a dock line I'd been politely ignoring since january (chafe don't fix itself, turns out). Al did the windows and they actually came clean, which they never do for me. tools wandered up and down the dock all afternoon, the neighbor's heat gun for my line ends, our ladder two boats down, a hose splitter that belongs to nobody and everybody.

people think livin on a dock is lonely. nope, it's a small town with one road. you can't be anonymous fifty feet from your neighbor's galley window and after a while you stop wantin to be.

Lady quality-tested the clean deck with a dropped piece of cheese. beer on the transom, forearms wrecked. good saturday
