Today's Daily Double is... scouting the other boats!

taste of rome coffee, ferry, bike, desk, and then something i almost never make time for: looking up from my own oars to study everyone else's. spent the day surveying the other outfits building testing and observability for ai voice agents, reading docs, poking demos, sorting who actually built the thing from who built a landing page about the thing.

the scouting report: nearly everyone has one of the two things you need and almost nobody has both. some have the deep plumbing, real tracing that tells you what actually happened inside a call step by step, no guessing. others have the voice smarts, the audio metrics and telephony weirdness you only learn by listening to a few thousand robot phone calls fail. platforms with both? i count roughly two, and I work on one of em. strange good feeling, like climbing the mast after years of nose-down sailing and finding you're further out front than it ever felt from the deck.
