Today's Daily Double is... kuidaore!
osaka has a word, kuidaore, "eat until you drop" (the city renders it as a giant mechanical crab waving over a neon canal). al and i took it literal and personal. 19 dutiful minutes in the hotel gym as a down payment, then:
- takoyaki off a griddle worked by a man with two picks and the wrists of a jazz drummer. first one takes the roof of your mouth as a tax, paid gladly, went back for more
- okonomiyaki cooked on hot steel right in front of ya, bonito flakes on top curling around in the heat
- kushikatsu in a joint with exactly one rule posted in three languages: NO DOUBLE DIPPING. never respected a law more
- walked it all off under the glico running man, forty feet of neon sprinter frozen over the canal
- al, holding her takoyaki pick like a lil trident, says we gotta learn to make these on the boat. dock takoyaki. the gulls are not ready
now that is what they call..... kuidaore
