Today's Daily Double is... TRACES!!!

traces traces traces. slow start on purpose, standup from the galley table, biked an errand, frittata at the cafe, 10:55 ferry in with the tourists. and then the afternoon lit UP, bc i got telemetry spans flowing out of my own lil test voice agent and into the pipeline, and for the first time i can SEE a conversation instead of just reading it. every step on a timeline, the listening and the thinking and the speaking, each span nested in the one that called it.

geology degree finally paying off bc i know exactly what this is: a core sample. drill down through a phone call and every layer tells you what was happening at that depth. here's where the model chewed, here's four hundred milliseconds of pure awkward silence, labeled and measured and undeniable.

and the drill found things immediately. fixed the long standing gap-before-speech bug, and in fixing it tripped over why agents were sometimes answering in random languages (one bug hiding behind another). first metrics came out too, time to first byte, token counts, looks siiiick.

meanwhile the mac mini ground on tracing while the laptop chewed the audio work, two agents cooking while I conducted. the tooling even profiled me back this week: 150 sessions in 18 days, three and a half thousand shell commands. anyway. TRAAAACES
