Today's Daily Double is... the revert!

Woke at 0530 to fires, a customer's sims regressing off the model swap, calls ending early, tool calls doubling up. Patched and prompted and PR'd through the morning, which is fine, that part is the job. The metrics frontend was the real circus: merged in the morning, reverted by noon for colliding with someone else's release, re-landed, broke more stuff, reverted again. The sum of today's output was wasted time, mine, the reviewers', the CI machines'.

But that is not the part of today that matters. Al flew to Houston tonight, gone a few days, and the boat is suddenly enormous. Lady keeps checking the door. Me too, kind of. A wasted workday is fully recoverable, they mint new Mondays every week. An empty seat at the galley table is just empty. I will miss my sweet wife while she is gone.
