Today's Daily Double is... a SEA OTTER on the commute!

1. a sea otter off the bow this morning, floating on his back like a lil tycoon in a fur coat, doing absolutely nothing with total commitment. rare in richardson bay! the handful of us on deck all went quiet and pointed like kids
2. taught the agent a recurring chore by writing one file describing it, and it just did the whole thing. correctly. said wow out loud, alone, at my desk
3. sent the groundhog day party text (finest holiday on the books, no gifts, no stakes, just a rodent and whoever shows up): ittttttts time for groundhogs. ITS GROUNDHOG TIMEEE
4. knocked off at 3:15 (new-job guilt briefly considered, then overruled), beer at the ferry building in the thin winter sun
5. a 16.7 mile ride to make an honest man of myself
6. everything else

the otter is out there right now, king of the whole damn estuary. hope he clocks in again tomorrow.
