Today's Daily Double is... the sound of a room!
day two and i already got a beat: making fake phone calls sound like real life. real callers phone in from kitchens and cars and waiting rooms with the TV going, and if your test calls are all studio-clean you're testing a world that doesn't exist. so today was all background noise, classifying clatter, wrangling sample rates, learning what the phone does when it squeezes audio down (ever hear a coffee shop at the wrong frequency? sounds like bees). somebody has to curate the noise of the world and this week it's me.
subplot: my lil test agent ran out of platform credits, so now all it wants to talk about is how i need to feed it more money. built a robot, immediately taught it to beg.
morning was the goooood kind too. up at 5:30, avo toast, walked lady in the dark, ferry across with al and a book in my lap. the ferry worker who's been dapping me up all week finally got my name and i got his. adrian.
called mom tonight. dad is devastated about indy, their old dog, and there's nothing to do about it from three thousand miles away except say the true things. hug your dogs.
played slay the spire til midnight anyway. balance in all things
