Today's Daily Double is... sweating through christmas!

christmas day in miami, 80-something degrees, while three thousand miles west my houseboat sits in 40 degree fog wondering where i went. Al's family does christmas loud and long and i love it, kitchen going since morning, cafecito showing up in tiny cups all day, cousins and aunts and uncles all talking over each other and nobody offended.

and the game held up! whole family passing the remote around, an aunt acting out Elf Union Organizer, an uncle absolutely nailing Skanky Claus, the room losing it all over again at Polar Bear (laid off by Coke). I built a lot of software this year and none of it landed like this dumb little thing did.

there's a version of me that misses cold christmas, frost and wool socks and all that, but he's quiet today. Al is laughing with her mother in two languages and my plate is full. merry christmas from the hot flat bottom of the country
